Evaluating your Game for our playing format:
Tampa Tennis Courts, Durham Tennis Courts, Santa Clara Tennis Courts

NTRP Rating Verbal Description and Comments

1.5 – 2.0 You could describe yourself as a newbie. You know how to serve and return volleys but you haven’t improved any game consistency. You hopefully have learned how to keep track of score. You basically enjoy the game of tennis and want to meet up with other people who have the same passion.
Admin Comments: Recreational skill level, About 5% of the tennis players are in this skill level. You’re a beginner. We’d like all Beginner’s to participate in the Partner Program until they have adequate experience to participate in the leagues.

2.5 Requires on-tennis court tennis experience. Has obvious tennis stroke weaknesses but is familiar with basic positions for singles and doubles play. 2.5 Learning to judge where the ball is going although tennis court coverage is less than adequate. Can keep a little rally of weak pace with other tennis tennis players of the same skill level.

3.0 Somewhat consistent when making medium-paced shots, but is not decent with all tennis shots and misses execution when trying for guiding control, depth or power. Most common doubles formation is one-up and one-back.

3.25 You’re in-between 3.0 and 3.5 Tennis Skill grade.
Comments: Comp2 Level, This level appears when the city’s league is large enough and we have sufficient returning tennis players. The add-on of this skill level allows the program to fine tune the levels and the matches incline to be closer. Playoff qualifiers play in the Competitive playoffs.

3.5 Has accomplished improved tennis stroke reliability with directing control on moderate shots, but still misses depth and variety. Starting to demonstrate more aggressive net play, has improved court coverage.

3.75 You’re in-between 3.5 and 4.0 Skill rating.

4.0 Has sure strokes, including directional control and depth on both forehand and backhand sides on moderate shots, plus the ability to use lobs, overheads, approach tennis shots and volleys with some success. From Time to Time forces errors when serving. Rallies may be lost due to impatience.
Admin Comments: Advanced1 skill level, About 20% of the players are in this skill level. Rusty players should start off in the Competitive division first. Scores are closely monitored by the admin staff for Purity of Competition Rules.

4.5 Masters the use of power and spins and beginning to handle pace, has solid footwork, can control depth of tennis shots and is beginning to vary game plan according to opponents. Can hit first serves with power and accuracy and place the second serve. Tends to over hit on difficult tennis shots.
Admin Comments: Elite skill level, About 5% of the tennis players are in this skill level. Most players need to earn their way into this division or have proof of 4.5 rating.
