Comparison web sites are now all the rage as drivers attempt to keep cash on their insurance expenses. Nevertheless, how do these internet sites opperate and do visitors have to spend money for access?
The theory behind a Insurance Comparison internet site is certainly a impressive idea. A car owner visits the site, enters their details, and they then find quotes from a mixture of providers helping them get the cheapest deal.

Yet, the doubters among you will question what’s in it for the company? It’s clear that even though Comparison Insurance internet sites are free to use, they must make money in some manner.
The simple answer of course, is they do. However, they don’t in reality cost the consumeranything. This is because comparison websites make almost all of their profit through two of methods – banners and links. Every time you are referrered from a comparison internet site on to a provider’s site, the comparison web site gets a little commission – it’s about comparable to a referral fee in that they are arranging your business the way of the car insurance company.
The great news nonetheless, is that this extra cost is not passed on to the car owner. In fact, many insurance companies even offer better deals through compare sites than they do on their own company sites because be at the top of the price lists.
With many other financial products it is relatively straight forward to determine the deals on the market – e.g., if you’re looking for a loan you would normally anticipate for the lowest rate of interest and assuming there are no hidden charges to look into, the cheapest deal is the victor.
Of course many people will still feel frustrated that the website is making a commission. Yet people
can always recall that if the insurer does not pay the commission to the comparison internet site they could be paying commission a brokerage. In reality the money not paid in commission would have been spent on telly ads to attract you to their brands anyway.
That is because likening deals on the basis of which has the lowest costwill not inevitably aid you in finding the greatest insurance policy.
E.g., one car insurance company could be cheaper than the other – but this could only be because its coverage is far less extensive.
The only way to check the better company for you is to obtain quotes from all of them – but of course the expectation of ringing around more than 30 providers is daunting at best. So next time you begin searching online for compare cheap car insurance recollect that it should be speedier and more cost beneficial to start with a comparison internet site.

Getting ones driver’s licenseis the more thrilling times for teens becoming young adults. It is also one of the more dangerous periods of their lives. In Britain accidents involving drivers aged under kill or severly injure over three thousand a year. Be aware of these facts will help you set limits for your own children to help them stay safe .

Young adults at age 18 are three times more likely to get into an accident than a driver at the age of 45. This is because at such a young age young drivers simply don’t have the experience to think clearly in hazardous situations. Even if they drive safely it does not mean that others on the road are being just as cautious. Looking out for other road users is one of the main lessons to becoming a better driver!

Make sure they are well insured. Many young people do not consider getting young driver insurance because of its expense. There are some new choices. A good source of cheap insurance for young drivers is pay as you drive insurance from companies like Coverbox. This insurance actively discourages young drivers from driving at the most dangerous times – such as the early hours – by making the insurance much more expensive during this period.

Nevertheless inexperience is not the single that distinguishes young drivers from their older counterparts. Attitude has a big part to play in reckless driving. Young people, especially men, are often much more confident in their abilities, more than should be, and take on extra risks because they feel they can handle it. It has been statistically proved that young drivers with friends as passengers are 2 times as likely to drive dangerously in an effort to show off. Jerky driving, dangerous Overtaking and general racing are the most common feats. Young male drivers are the more likely and a 1/3 of them will be engaged in a accident during their first two years of driving.

Even So its not all the young drivers fault. Parents and role models set the standards through their own driving practices. They need to talk to their children about driving safely show their offspring the proper ways to deal with difficult driving situations. Set your boundaries and principles with your children and keep them to them for their own safety and future.

Not many individuals realise that the conception of the air bag – a soft shock absorber to impact against in a crash – has been around for many years. The very first patent on an air bag for airplanes was submitted during World War II. During the 80s, the first commercial airbags were a safety feature in motorcars.

Up to now, stats indicate that airbags cut back the possibility of dying in a direct head-on crash by about 30%. Now we also have seat mounted and door-mounted side airbags. Incredibly, some automobiles go far beyond just having two air bags, and alternatively have 6 to 8 air bags.

The job of an airbag is to ease the passenger/driver’s forward movement as smoothly as possible in only a split second. An air bag can achieve this goal in 3 steps:

  • The airbag itself is composed of a thin, nylon, which is compressed into the steering wheel or dashboard and, these days, the seat or door
  • The sensor is the gadget that orders the bag to balloon. Inflation takes place when there is a crash force equal to running into a brick wall at around 15 miles an hour. A mechanical switch is flicked when there is a weight shift that cuts off an electric contact, telling the detectors that a crash has occurred. The detectors obtain information from an accelerometer built into a silicon chip
  • The bag’s ballooning facility reacts sodium azide (NaN3) with potassium nitrate to produce nitrogen gas. Hot gusts of the nitrogen gas blow up the air bag

Because of the incredibly fast deployment of an airbag, it’s essential the passenger and driver sit in the seat with a straight back providing a reasonable distance between their face and the dashboard / steering wheel – this allows time for the bag to inflate while they are being forced forward by the affect of the smash.

Brokers used to spend a good percentage of their day cold calling people who, a number of times, did not wish to be contacted. Currently, leadgen companies are able to furnish high quality, targeted insurance sales leads that are currently looking to purchase a new insurance policy. These websites provide an simple and cost efficient way of acquiring new clients.

Lead generation sites offer a worthwhile solution for insurance underwriters looking for increased sales. First, these companies collect information from prospects interested in a new policy through their own network of sites. Then, they use the information submitted to pair each insurance lead with local insurance agents.

With a various amount of sales lead websites each selling slightly unique leads, insurance agents can’t always determine which lead company is right for them. There are specific characteristics that good insurance lead websites hold that can help them stand out from the rest including filters, pricing, return policy and billing.

Costs is important. An inexpensive sales lead may not provide high quality people but a seemingly expensive lead might be too costly to realize a net profit

A few lead generation sites try to make you make a substantial deposit before sending you insurance leads. With so many insurance lead generation companies allowing you to start receiving leads with a small initial deposit or some that will bill you after you receive leads, there is no reason to deposit too much up front.

Bogus sales leads are inevitable. Find a service with a good refund policy and this shouldn’t be an issue.

The ability to only be sent the kind of person you want is essential. Most insurance leadgen sites offer some kind of filtering ability so that you only receive and are billed for the prospect that is best for your agency.

In summary, when signing up with an insurance sales lead website, you should shop around and buy leads from a few sales lead websites. A couple will be great for auto insurance leads while others may send better home insurance leads. Signing up with several lead generation websites will permit you to also keep your business shielded in the event one or more of the sales lead source’s quality goes down.

Doing a used car search online can be a profitable effort, especially if you are looking for a used car for sale. The internet has been a significant marketplace for a long time now, since more and more people are using it for information as well as for purchasing purposes. The auto industry has also had a large growth online, and many people are currently using the web as their main source for finding new and used vehicles, car auctions, car parts and accessories, car repair help as well as auto loans and insurance.

There is hardly a vehicle make or model you can’t find online today. To tell the truth, it is much more convenient to sit down in your own home and get a list of the vehicle make and model you want in a few seconds than reading classifieds in all the local newspapers in the country. In a matter of seconds, you have all the auto information you want prices included – in seconds the choice is yours. Any closer to a perfect market is difficult to come.

How do you get there and what do you do?

Perhaps you have been at your local vehicle dealership more than once? To buy a car online you perform exactly the same steps as you were in a car dealers store. There is one important difference: You can buy your motorcar from your home desk and you don’t have to run from car dealer to car dealer all around town. Of course you need to know how much you are willing to spend on a car. Do some calculations and budgeting and find out if you need to take a car or auto loan and how much it eventually need to be loand to you for your automobile purchase. When your auto finances are ok, you go to the internet and search for [car (auto) make + model + review], then you’ll have the automotive websites that are most useful for you and in addition you can read other peoples opinion about them. A huge marketplace like the internet will inevitably have some scam actors whose sole purpose is to make money, without giving your needs for a decent vehicle a second thought. Therefore, it is wise to approach recommended used car for sale sites only.

When you have selected the motorcars you are interested in, you have the option of making an appointment for a test drive of the vehicle. If the online car dealer is physically located in your area, this won’t be a big deal. If the auto dealership is located far away from you, you might still be interested in testing the vehicle if this is the automobile you really want or if this seems to be ‘the car deal of the year’. After having tested one or a sample of vehicles, it’s time to go back to the internet and do the vehicle negotiating process and fulfill your auto purchase. The negotiation procedure is exactly the same as at a car dealership, the only difference is that you can do it in a much calmer and less stressed atmosphere.

When you close the auto deal, you can also buy an extended auto warranty online if you want. If are still sceptical about finding a car online, the only advice I have for you is; try it and see for yourself how easy it is to buy a used car online.

Is Your Car A Lemon?

18 April 2009

There are very few things more satisfying than buying a new car. There is great pride of ownership and a feeling of accomplishment and pride as you drive around town in your new vehicle. For most of us, that new car excitement lasts until we must make our first payment or until we get our first parking lot ding. For an unlucky few, they wish these were the only negatives that they had to worry about.

These unlucky few are the people who find themselves with an automobile that will, after much frustration and exhaustion on the part of the owner, be classified on a lemon.

So just what is a lemon car? After all, we’ve all had the occasional breakdown of some part of our car. And no matter when it happens, it is extremely inconvenient (and often quite expensive.) When does “regular wear and tear” flow into the realm of having a true lemon.

Typically a lemon is a new vehicle (or in some states a used vehicle under certain circumstances) that has had a large number of repair attempts on a single defect or an overall large number of repair attempts overall. It can also include just a single repair attempt on a portion of the car where failure could be a life threatening situation. Each state has their own lemon law warranty act and each of them defines what will make a vehicle a lemon. For instance, in California, a lemon automobile can be summarized as follows:

Vehicles Covered by California Lemon Law – California lemon law covers any new motor vehicle used primarily for family, personal or household purposes. It also includes the chassis portion of motor homes.

Repair Interval / Coverage Period Details – To be considered a lemon law vehicle in California , the vehicle must either be out of service for 30 calendar days or have 2 repair attempt for a defect that could cause death or a serious injury or have 4 repairs for the same defect. The coverage period is for 18 months or 18,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

(Lemon law summaries and the statutes for all 50 states and Washington DC can be found at the Lemon Law Resources website at http://www.lemonlawresources.com.)

If you believe your car is a lemon, it is very important that you have proper records to show this. That means that each time you go to your service center, it is very important that they record exactly what you believe the problem is in the car and specify what they did to try to solve the problem. You need to do this for two reasons. First, you will need these records when making a claim for restitution. Second, for these “mystery” problems, dealers will try many different things and it may not be clear to an adjuster that they were all related unless you ensure this is the case on the receipts.

Once your car has passed the state hurdle to be classified to become a lemon, you must take actions to get restitution. Each state has a different procedure you must follow. Some states requre that you send a letter to the manufacturer to give them one last chance to repair the defect. Other states have arbitration panels you must deal with to get restitution.

No matter what method the state has in place for you to seek restitution, you always have the option of working with an attorney if you do not feel the issue was solved to your satisfaction. You should consider an attorney as a last resort as not all states allow you to be reimbursed for your legal fees if you win. (And of course if you lose, you would not get reimbursed.) So as frustrating as this situation may be, it is best to persue all state sponsored remedies before seeking legal help.

What happens if you win?

If your vehicle is determined to be a lemon under your state’s law, you are entitled to a refund or a comparable replacement vehicle. A comparable vehicle most be indentical or a reasonable equivalent of your current vehicle. A refund will include your purchase price, taxes and any other options installed in the vehicle minus a usage fee based on how much you used the car. The terms will very a bit from state to state but this is generally what you can expect.

What happens to the car after the manufactuer takes it back?

The manufacturer will generally recondition it and put it back for sale within its network. Depending on the state where the problem occurred, the title may or may not be stamped with a phrase like “Lemon Law Buyback” when it is returned to that state for resale. However, not all states require this and if the car was transferred from one state to another, the information may not follow on the title issued from the new state.

Used car buyer beware!

While lemon cars are only a very small percentage of the used cars that are sold, this issue with titles not always conveying the true history of the car, it shows the importance of doing research on any used car purchase. If you are buying a used car from a dealer, you should insist on a Carfax lemon check report and if you are buying from an individual, you should do one yourself at carfax.com. It is a very reasonable price to pay to be sure your car has no hidden defects.

When I purchased my first truck, a showroom new 1985 Ford F-150, it was a basic offering needing some serious upgrades. One of the first products I purchased was a snap-on tonneau cover that adequately covered the truck’s eight foot bed. Although I did not have the truck for long, it proved to be one of my favorite “add-ons” and it actually saved me some money. If you’re shopping for a new tonneau cover there are some important things for you to keep in mind before finalizing your purchase. Let’s take a look at five of them.

You get what you pay for! A tonneau cover can be had cheaply or it can cost you a small fortune. In the middle area, where most consumers shop, there are several reasonably priced models that are durable, long lasting, and attractive. Some covers look cheap — and they are, while others look expensive — but they really are not. Generally, you will pay less for a soft-top tonneau cover than for a hard-top cover, so it becomes a matter of personal preference which style you decide to buy.

They are easy to maintain. Quite true! For the most part, if you are washing your truck, you will clean your cover the same way. However, do not use the car tire or dashboard cleaning agents on your cover. Manufacturers such as for the Extang Tonneau Cover will have specific care instructions for you to follow. Your local auto supply store should carry products specifically designed to help you clean and shine your tonneau cover.

You will reap security dividends. Even a soft, non-locking tonneau cover is better to have on your truck bed than no cover at all, as tempting items are kept away from thieves’ eyes. Still, if you carry valuable merchandise, consider a locking, hard cover version. Covers such as those offered by Truxedo Tonneau Cover can meet your security requirements.

Resale value will be strong. If you take good care of your truck and outfit it with a premium tonneau cover, you will be able to command a good resale value when it is time for you to sell your truck.

Decent fuel savings. With gas prices surging, one way you can save as much as 10-15% at the pump is to have a tonneau cover installed. Wind drag is greatly reduced when your tonneau cover is securely in place.

Most tonneau covers come with a one year limited warranty, which should be adequate for you. Your online auto parts supplier can provide detailed information about product offerings, care/maintenance, prices, shipping/handling information, and more.

I hope you enjoy your new tonneau cover as much as I enjoyed mine!
