By far, the largest trading market in the world is the foreign currency market. Speculators make up only a small part of the spot (cash market) and forward (futures market) currency exchange transactions. So if you are considering speculating in this area, be aware that you are trying to out-guess the brightest minds & supercomputers at large banks and hedge funds; along with the political whims & expediency of government treasury departments.

The common portfolio use for holding foreign currencies is to hedge against the fall of your home currency. For most people, their salary and all their assets are based in their home currency - and if that falls in value, so does their entire net worth and future earnings. For Americans, as an example, there has been a growing trade deficit with China for many years. And if China were to allow their currency to fluctuate, the U.S. dollar would fall against the Chinese yuan in concert with this trade deficit.

You can also include currency trading as an additional way to diversify your portfolio. I have read many, many books to learn about currency trading, and even day-traded the Swiss-Franc for six months. If you want to learn how to speculate with trading currencies, you can either try some technical analysis services at the link below, or getting a Phd. in economics and finance, but I can’t guarantee that will increase your odds of success.

I made my only ‘very poor man’ currency trade prior to the establishment of the Euro currency in 2002. While driving in my car, I heard a speech over the radio by the German president that I felt was certain to cause a short-term fall in the German Mark. I drove to the nearest AAA Travel Office, and went to the ATM next door to withdraw $200 in cash to put in my pocket. Being a AAA member, I then exchanged the $200 for American Express Traveler’s Cheques that were denominated in German Marks. Four months later, the U.S. dollar had increased by 10% on the German Mark. So I took my German Mark cheques to exchange them back into dollars and cash out with a giant profit. To my disappointment, the fees for the buy & sell transactions added up to about 8%, leaving me with a giant $4 profit. So if you want to try the “Travelers Cheque” route, you’ll need a big trend to offset your transaction fees.

The next step up in initial cost is an ETF that is based on the Euro with the ticker symbol FXE. It is technically a trust, but it is traded exactly like a stock, and it fluctuates very close to the USD/Euro rate. When you think the dollar is going to fall against the Euro, just buy some of these shares to offset your currency risk, and you can start with one share for less than $200.

The next way to get access to foreign currencies is to get some FDIC insured certificates of deposit from Everbank.com. They offer CDs in over 10 different foreign currencies and a couple indices, and the minimum investment is only $10,000 for an interest earning account. So if you are tired of your bank’s low savings account rate, there are currencies that regularly offer a higher yield without undue currency exchange risk.

Risk a few small steps into foreign currency investments, and anything dollar-based will feel disappointingly tame. Plus, you’ll have bragging rights with your friends and dinner parties on your sophisticated investment portfolio.

With rates still holding steady many home owners are rethinking the possibility of saving hundreds per month when refinancing. But should you refinance? To answer this question we will first need to define the financial term home loan refinancing.

Home Refinancing Defined: The process of the same borrower paying off one loan with the proceeds from another loan. The repayment of a loan with funds from a new loan secured by the same property as the first loan. The new loan may be from the same or a different lending institution.

Now that we know the process we’re better able to understand the answer forthcoming.

To get our answer regarding whether to refinance or not we will need to know what our current mortgage rate is as well as our desired rate. Example: If your monthly mortgage payment (excluding taxes & insurance) is about $770 on a $100,000 loan at 8.5% you would save about $70 a month if the rate were lowered to 7.5%. Your monthly payment would be about $700.

To determine how much you would save upon refinancing with the desired rate compared to your current loan rate you will need one of the following tools:

A Local rate Index
A Refinance Analysis Calculator or Mortgage Refinancing Savings Calculator
Pull your mortgage statement and examine your current mortgage rate

You’ll find a good refinance savings calculator at the Mortgage Loan Search site at http://www.bcpl.net/~ibcnet/refinance-savings-calculators.html. This calculator will answer such questions as Does It Pay for Me to Refinance My House? Is Now a Good Time to Refinance? Is It Worth It for Me to Refinance? When Do I Break Even When Refinancing My Home?

Before using the calculator we’ll need to know exactly what local home refinancing loan rates are available. To do this simply use the local mortgage rate look up tools featured on most mortgage websites. The ideal site will not only list an index of national averages but provide you a means of looking up local rates as well.

How Do I Find the Best Refinance Deal? To find the best deal you’ll want to put yourself in a bargaining position. Using what are called quick rate quote forms you’re able to submit a request for loan rates based on a certain criteria. The criteria lenders use helps them evaluate and determine the applicant’s best match in terms of available loan programs and associated mortgage rates.

Will I Benefit from Refinancing? It all depends on how much you save when refinancing and what you do with the savings. If you save $70 per month and receive interest on it (of just 6.5%), over 30 years (the length of most people’s loans) you would build over $80,000 in wealth.

How do I find the Best Refinance Rate? There are several factors involved with finding the lowest rates. One is having a fairly good credit score. The other is having made your mortgage payment on time. Another is making lenders compete for your business. When lenders know your dealing with the competition they will likely offer attractive rates up front to win you over.

What if I’m Refinancing My Home with Bad Credit? Don’t be dismayed. Lender will work with you to improve your credit score or offer special programs designed for less the perfect credit applicants.

Perhaps you are planning on purchasing a treadmill, elliptical machine, stationary bike, or some other home cardio equipment. How can you be sure you get the maximum fitness and weight loss out of your equipment?

Assuming you have talked to your doctor and have been approved for exercise, here are some tips for designing your workout routine for maximum benefits and years of success!

Here is the formula for success: Have goals. Your goals should include the number of times you will ride per week, the number of minutes, and the level of difficulty you select on your particular machine.

A. The number of times you ride per week should be chosen based upon your level of fitness and your motivation. For example, if you are extremely out of shape and not very motivated, you may want to set a goal to ride one time per week and then do it no matter what. This is better than setting a goal to ride 5 times per week and then only riding 2. By doing this you will be building a foundation of success which will snowball more success. Adjust this goal upward when you are mentally and physically ready.

B. The number of minutes you ride will also be determined by your level of fitness and your motivation. The difference here is that your time goal will change more frequently than your other goals. At first, you may have difficulty riding for a few minutes. You may start with a goal of 5 minutes and find you achieve that in a short amount of time - at this point it is time to change your goal upward. Again, do not set yourself up for failure but do not go too easy on yourself here. If you easily complete 5 minutes, do not jump your goal immediately to 30 minutes. Build up slowly.

C. The level of difficulty or tension you apply should not be adjusted until you have reached a specific time goal with the minimum being 30 minutes. If you can’t complete 30 minutes on a low difficulty setting it is not the right time to be adjusting your difficulty upward. When you go up a level in intensity it may set you back on your time on the machine. Readjust your time goals accordingly until you work your way back to your goal. Repeat.

These goals are designed to gear you toward long-term success. Many people start an exercise program with an intensity and mind-set of getting into shape within a week. This leads to soreness, fatigue, and burn out. Getting in shape is a worthy goal that takes time. When you carefully plan and execute your exercise regimen, your exercise sessions will become a ritual that adds pleasure to your day for years to come.

Home automation involves automation of many tasks. One of these is the security of your dwelling. Home automation security is an important feature for your safety and well being. Home automation security provides security and peace of mind for many homes and businesses. Basically, home automation systems make it look as though vacant homes and businesses are in fact occupied. This is achieved through the timed used of televisions, lights and other methods. Home automation systems can be the difference between your home being hit by a burglar and your home being passed over by one.

One can either use wireless technology or hardwired security systems. Wireless is gaining popularity in an attempt to do away with complicated and confusing wiring operations. Wireless transmitters, receivers, and controllers can add the convenience of wireless sensors. Using wireless transmitters and receivers you can easily place sensors in out of the way or hard-to-access areas, without having to run new wiring. Wireless security cameras are also extremely useful.

Hardwired security costs lesser but its installation is time consuming. It requires the ability to hide wires in walls for a neat installation. Wireless alarm systems, on the other hand, are more easily installed and can be added to or moved to a new location with ease. Typically, hardwired systems are installed during a new construction and are more reliable than their wireless counterparts.

Many types of security devices exist. Door alarms and emergency exit alarms are vital. Even though burglars may break in through windows, doors must be secured. Door alarms work on one of two types of systems: a closed circuit or an open circuit system. This same idea is also used in window alarms. In either if the circuit breaks or in the latter when the circuit completes upon the opening of a door, an alarm is sounded.

Security cams are also good. First you must decide whether you need an indoor or an outdoor system and whether or not to use closed-circuit or wireless cameras. Day or night use will also affect the type of camera you by, some have built in infra-red that allow them to ’see’ in the dark.

One can also install instant calling to specified numbers in case of a break in which will contact such numbers for help. Also other devices such as taped dog barking upon approach by an intruder can be installed. Adequate lighting is also important. One can put motion sensors lighting up the path if someone approaches your gateway. Keep burglars at bay with heat-sensitive motion sensors, door/window sensors, ear-piercing sirens, etc.

Essentially a home automation security system must be reliable, cost effective and deterrent. It must be able to give you a good night’s rest and assure your safety.

We all know how important home security is however let’s face
it if you don’t automate tasks you forget:

Nowadays, there are plenty of shower screens out there to be had for pocket change. At the same time, at the top end of the market, you can pay hundreds for something truly luxurious. So what, exactly, is the difference?

Let’s look first at the very cheapest shower screens available. They are nearly all made in China with low-quality parts, and they can have all sorts of problems. The glass will often be flimsy and easy to break, and the frame may quickly start to have trouble sliding. You might even find that it moves on its own!

At the higher end of the market, you will see ingenious solutions to every problem a shower screen could have. The glass will be toughened and could be as thick as half a centimetre. The guides for the Shower screen will be silent and easy to move.

As well as these technical features, pricier shower screens will also be much better looking than their cheaper counterparts: the manufacturers will have put some time into coming up with designs that are pleasing to the eye. After all, you have to see the shower screen in your bathroom every day, even if you’re not using it.

However, expensive shower screens can also come with features you don’t need. They are often more adaptable to different styles of shower, which saves you finding out which one you need, but also means that you’re paying for adaptability that you might never use. Also, in practice, there is little difference between 5mm toughened glass, for example, and 2mm toughened glass, apart from a huge increase in cost.

So what should you do? Overall, it is worthwhile spending a little extra to get away from the cheapest end of the market, unless you want to replace your shower screen once a year or even more - you’ll save more than what you spend over the long run by getting something good-quality. However, as you get into the higher price ranges you need to spend much more to get more. So buy cheap… but not too cheap.

The use of barcoding and barcode scanners has transformed operational efficiencies of a phenomenal number of businesses both large and small. Simple yet effective, the barcode as an invention has made itself indispensable purely by the multi-faceted advantages that its offers to the user across the entire barcoding spectrum - from generating barcodes through customizable barcode generating software right up to sophisticated barcode scanners and barcode readers. Here we present to you the killer advantages of these marvelous devices.

Super Advantage 1: Speed and Accuracy - A really good data entry operator would be able to enter a 12 digit number (like product code for example) on his keypad in approximately 4-5 seconds, but the average would be more like 7 seconds. The same operation if performed with a barcode scanner would take just one flick of the wrist, less than a second. The speed difference is evident - the use of the barcodes is unmatched in its ability to plough through large volumes of these operations effortlessly. While a data entry operator might make keyboard errors when he types in data, the chances of a barcode reader giving wrong output is practically nonexistent tending almost to zero. For all practical purposes, accuracy is exact, every time the barcode reader makes its flowing motion over the barcode.

Super Advantage 2: Implementation Ease - You decide you want to start using barcodes for your products but are worried that you have never done it before? Fear not, for in 10-20 minutes of your time that scenario will get reversed. The use of barcode readers is almost childishly simple with no prerequisite for usage. Not only can anybody do it, but they can do it quickly as well for the learning curve of using barcodes is extremely steep and short.

Super Advantage 3: Bang for the buck - If you could capture information quickly and accurately, it could only mean a tighter supply chain and well-knit business processes based on this information. With superior information, you can take superior business decisions that increase shareholder value. Imagine what disastrous consequences incorrect information could have on your business! A vast collection of barcodes and barcode scanner usage data has revealed that the investment made in this technology pays back in as short a period as 6 to 10 months - way faster than most modern technologies that attempt to improve the way we conduct our business. Thus the barcode genre is one where the customer truly gets good value for money and high return on investment.

One can never get enough of the importance and advantages of barcodes and barcode scanners. It now only remains for you to start scouring the market for various barcoding solutions to unlock the immense savings and gains that are lying in wait for your business! Go ahead and barcode your business growth in to the future!

John is in the fourth grade, and his school has announced the dates for the end of the year standardized testing. Given that John struggles academically, how should his parents approach this event?

A. Hope for the best.

B. Pressure John to pay attention and study.

C. Tell John just to do his best.

D. Ensure John is prepared emotionally and academically.

Most parents have a lot to say about the validity and necessity of standardized tests. Your viewpoint on the subject will not change the fact that your child will soon face the rigors of the dreaded end of year exam. Like it or not, the scores and percentiles are quite important to your child’s future. Children are given a vast amount of knowledge throughout the school year, and are expected to be able to recall enough to answer the questions on a seemingly endless battery of tests. Teachers have been preparing their classes all year. Parents can also ready a child for testing by offering emotional encouragement and academic support.

Take responsibility. I visited a classroom of third graders recently, and one of the children shared that she was afraid to take the end of grade test. The teacher was out of the room, so the assistant answered the child. “You don’t have to worry one bit. Your teacher will teach you everything you need to know.” Tell your child that you and her teacher are going to work together to ensure test readiness. Take the burden of responsibility off the child, and listen for the sigh of relief.

Practice the format. The first time I did my taxes myself, I was overwhelmed. In the following years, the process seemed easier. The procedure was just as difficult, but I was familiar with the form. Make sure your child has a chance to practice the test in the exact format he will see it on testing day. The text formatting, page layout, and wording of instructions should be exactly the same, so that on testing day, your child will be familiar with everything but the actual questions. Your school probably already gives these practice tests. If not, Scholastic offers a wide range of test prep materials.

Make a plan. Find out if your child has any questions or concerns about testing. What if his pencil breaks? What if the calculator doesn’t work? What if she has to go to the restroom? What if a question is just too hard? Get answers from the child’s teacher, and while you’re at it, find out all the test taking strategies taught in the classroom. Help get rid of a few more anxieties by teaching your child how to skip a question or signal for a new pencil.

Teach relaxation. Remember Lamaze class? Share your favorite relaxation techniques with your child. Teach her to tackle only one question at a time. Help him to tighten and relax muscles to relieve tension. Teach self-encouragement phrases: “You can do this. That one was hard, but this is a new question.”

Clear the calendar. The night before a test, clear the calendar. Skip athletic games, scout meetings, dance lessons and piano. Your child probably won’t have any homework, but resist the temptation to review academics. Lay out clothes and lunches for the next day, and use the rest of the time for the family, with a nutritious meal, a family movie, and an early and stress free bedtime.

Express unconditional love. Whether your child bubbles in correctly or not, expressing your love will create a bubble of confidence that will be hard to break. Even if scores never reach the 99th percentile, make it clear that your love will be there 100% of the time. To your child, this is the percentile that counts.

1) Effective meetings make money

Effective meetings make a business smart by producing creative strategies, solid plans, and workable solutions. And smart businesses always outperform others. Bad meetings produce nothing, except maybe a decision to call another meeting.

A smart business attracts customers because they know that smart companies provide reliable products and services. Thus, your proposal meetings, sales presentations, and operational effectiveness tell customers what to expect. For example, consider the opposite: how reliable a product would you expect from a company that ran bad meetings?

A profit-driven business must obtain a positive return on every activity that it undertakes. And that includes meetings. Wise leaders design their meetings so that they earn money for the business.

2) Effective meetings save money

Good meetings produce results that people support. And that represents a major operational efficiency because such results cost less to implement. Results (if any) from a bad meeting seldom have everyone’s support. Implementation is then hindered by broken commitments, competing activities, and sabotage. In turn, the business wastes huge amounts of money on duplicate efforts and dead-end projects.

Smart companies get full value for money spent. And that includes salaries. In an effective meeting, people are paid to work, not lounge around eating donuts, sipping coffee, and exchanging chitchat.

Employees admire effective leaders. And they want to work for smart companies. Thus, effective meetings reduce employee turnover, which represents significant savings. In contrast, bad meetings bore top performers into quitting.

3) Effective meetings make people powerful

When people work as a team to produce a result, they feel pride and ownership in that result. Thus, they feel inspired by their work. And that translates into greater productivity.

People are attracted to leaders who help them. And good leaders run meetings characterized by achievement. This creates loyalty to the leaders and to the business. In contrast, bad meetings are filled with failure, which causes frustration, resentment, and anger.

Effective meetings work as a success engine in business. The employees use them as a reliable tool to perform their work. As a result, each success motivates to them to work harder.

Video conferencing actually encompasses a range of technologies used in a wide range of situations, often it is not just video and audio that is transmitted, but also data, allowing collaborative working though shared applications. All of this means having sufficient bandwidth supporting your network is the critical performance factor.

Video conferencing may be……

* One-to-one meetings, also known as point to point communications, usually involving full two-way audio and video.

* One-to-many involving full audio and video broadcast from the main site, where other sites may be able to send audio. For example in a lecture situation, students could ask questions.

* Many-to-many, known as multi-point communication, provides audio and video between more than two sites. With most multi-point systems only one site in a conference can be seen at time, with switching between sites either controlled manually or voice activated (i.e., the loudest site is on screen).

Physically, the most common scenarios of video conferencing are:

* desktop video conferencing - usually a small camera is located on top of the PC or workstation monitor. The actual video is usually displayed in a small window, and shared applications, such as a shared whiteboard are often used.

* studio-based systems - a studio is specially equipped for video conferencing. This will normally include one or more cameras, microphones, one or more large monitors, and possibly other equipment such as an overhead camera for document viewing. Usually used for more formal meetings

In practice a ’studio’ may not be a dedicated room, but a standard seminar room with portable equipment that can be set up when required.

Bandwidth and Compression……

The bandwidth, or baud rate, is the amount of information which can be transmitted every second. The higher the bandwidth, the better quality the signal that can be transmitted. For a video conference audio and video signals must be transmitted in real time, i.e., a lot of information has to be sent every second, requiring a very high bandwidth. For example a ‘true colour’ image will need 24 bits (3 bytes) per pixel. A full screen image might be 640×480 pixels, over 7 million bits. For full motion video, the image is refreshed 25 times per second. This adds to over 184 million bits per second. It is not realistically possible to transmit this amount of information, and your PC certainly could not receive it at this rate. Therefore for digital video some form of compression is required. The type and degree of compression used varies from system to system. It is interesting to note that for most uses, we are more tolerant of poor video than poor audio, and so some systems concentrate on providing consistently good audio.

How To Get The Right Bandwidth To Meet Your Needs…….

Don’t take a chance at guessing what bandwidth you’ll need…..or in selecting the provider for that bandwidth. You may need a fractional, full, integrated, or bonded T1, DS3, or OC3 network depending on many factors. Solutions offered by providers will vary by cost, Quality of Service (QoS), and Service Level Agreement (SLA). I strongly recommend you use the services of an independant Telecommunications Consultant to help you assess your needs and find the provider who best meets your requirements. For unbiased free advice….as well as real time rate quotes from multiple providers, indepth research, and negotiations with providers on your behalf….I recommend you use FreedomFire Communications.
